Swanage Town Twinning Association

Does the Association make all its members feel welcome?

  1. Isn't that a question to ask of the towns that are twinned with Swanage? It's always struck me as odd that all we ever hear about it is people from Rudesheim coming here (and from Swanage going there). Yet in the Town Hall there is a certificate of twinning with some French town: they're not made very welcome are they?

  2. How do you know they aren't made welcome?

  3. Swanage is only twinned with one town and that is Rudesheim in Germany and the certificate of twinning in the Town Hall relates to that. You only here about the visits because the newspapers do not publish everything we write. At the Echo's request I wrote an illustrated article about Town Twinning that was never published. The Swanage Town Twinning Association normally meets on the second Monday of each month. My question is are all the members made to feel welcome at these meetings?

  4. Robin..are you sure? There definitely used to be a certificate on the wall relating to being twinned with a French town, and I remember raising the point with fellow councillors. Perhaps that's why it's been removed: no-one wanted to pursue the French link.

  5. The Swanage French Circle has a treaty of friendship with Cerisy-la-Salle and is in the Dorset Twinning Association. As far as I know Swanage is not officially twinned with Cerisy-la-Salle.

I have made a spelling mistake in the title. It should read Swanage Town Twinning Association: not Swanage Town Twining Association. Is it possible to correct the title?

  6. My original post was an open question and does not imply anything about the Swanage Town Twinning Association.

  7. The Swanage Town Twinning Association is a very friendly group that makes all its members and guests and visitors from Rudesheim feel welcome. All members are welcome to attend and participate in all periphery activities such as the Christmas Market at Rudesheim.
