Sounds to me that the best way to preserve it would be by allowing it to be turned into flats. The local residents have got on the "keep old Swanage" platform to protect their personal interests.
How useful it would be if like other local authorities PDC put plans of each month's applications for perusal on the internet. I would like to see what exactly is proposed at Sea Court, but don't know if I can be bothered to visit Westport House.
The residents around seacourt are not against development and conversion they just want this special house to have development that is in keeping with SEACOURT and the surrounding conservation area.
I had a look at the plans at PDC today and thought they were ideal. The virtual impressions look great. The old house gets restored with a completely separate block some distance away further up the hill. The new building has been designed to almost replicate the old with the same brick, stone features and even similar quirky "turrets". The article in this weeks Advertiser put a grossly misinformed slant on the proposals.
