A local 15 year old was badly beaten up and is in intensive care:( thoughts go out to parents and the child not a great start to the new year:( I hope who ever did this is charged and gets what they deserve.
Well someone , who ever it was wanted to know something about it , I knew something about it thru certain web pages and staff in kays , so posted it on here.
It seems that there was a fight on Shore road involving a few young lads. Two of the lads were taken to Poole hospital, 1 of which was allowed to leave this morning. The other lad has since been taken to Southampton hospitel with a bleeding complication. He is in a stable condition but on a life support machine. I won't name the people involved but the BBC has covered the story. "A 17-year-old boy, from Lytchett Matravers, has been arrested and is being questioned by police."
Whilst I have every sympathy for the boy and his parents one has to ask the question what on earth were kids of this age (assuming they were not with parents or adults at the time) doing out at that time on one of busiest nights of the year when drink and trouble is almost a dead cert I wish him a speedy recovery
All I'm saying is something has happened, it appears very bad but Facebook and gossip aren't exactly reliable sources of info.
Hahaha we used to rely on gossip in the past before the big world of the internet. To be honest did not fancy waiting for the pigeon to bring the news:)
This is not a policing issue - all those under drinking age should be kept safely indoors at that time of night. Swanage is a bit of a wild place once the pubs turn out.

What has it got to do with the internet? When it comes to something like this I prefer to get my info from a news outlet or police statement than from idle gossips and nosey parkers.

It really isn't. I go out most weekends in the town and there is rarely violence and trouble.
Ok there might be some drunks being loud or a bit shouty but I wouldn't count it as wild.
Are the Police still planning to close the Swanage cop shop and move operations to Wareham?
Is that really a good idea? Especially when the summer population of Purbeck nearly doubles?

Anyway have we seen the Echo's take on the story? If I were involved in the running of the arcade I'd be very unhappy, implies that the attack took place at the arcade itself.

Bournemouth Echo Monday 2nd January says it is a 16 year old boy fighting for his life. Also mentioned on BBC Radio Solent. I hope he has a speedy & full recovery. On 28th December the High Street was blocked for over half an hour outside the Royal Oak at Herston while the firemen cut off the roof of a black Vauxhall Zafira to free the driver. I have not heard anything else about it so perhaps the accident was not as bad as it looked.
There's a few questions here I would like to get of my chest.
1. What was a 15 or 16 year old doing out at this time? 2. Does this incident now question the polices crackdown on anti social and all the signs they put up about it? 3. Why not update or install CCTV around every corner of town? Council have a nice pot of money;) 4. Should the new years party be marshalled a bit better. Ie ticket only into town. Yes it can be done the city of Edinburgh do it. 5. Should all under the age of 18 be with a adult and if not with one , be escorted home on new years eve.

Why should peoples movement be restricted? what if friends or relatives turn up at short notice? what if you decide to come into town at say 9 pm? not practical. Next you will be saying charge people!

And totally agree with stiffer sentences , if tourists can walk into our town new years day to be confronted by a crime scene then there is something wrong with the message that we are sending to people who do these violent acts:( it's not right at all , there's enough friggin fighting going on in the world as it is :(

FEARS of gang reprisals are mounting following a violent New Year’s Day clash which left a Swanage teenager fighting for life, it has emerged. A 16-year-old Swanage boy remains in a serious condition in hospital after suffering life-threatening head injuries during the early morning incident. Two other teens were also hurt in the altercation, which took place by the Shore Road shelter close to the town’s beachfront. Now Dorset Police have urged local parents to “be vigilant” following reports a small number of young men may be planning a revenge attack. Some worried residents told the Daily Echo tensions are running high between local youths – who regularly meet close to where the alleged assault took place – and teenagers from nearby Langton Matravers. It has been alleged a number of youths from Langton Matravers were involved in the New Year’s Day incident. Sgt Jon Wassey, of the Wareham Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Information has been received that a small number of young men may be planning to seek retribution. However at this time this cannot be confirmed. “I would appeal to parents to assist Dorset Police in reducing any risks by advising their children as to the consequences of teenagers taking matters into their own hands – reckless and irresponsible behaviour will not achieve anything.” Locals say groups of teenagers regularly meet near the Shore Road shelter, but violence like that which took place on New Year’s Day is very rare. Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple said: “From our enquiries, we know there was a large number of young people on the seafront by the blue shelter on Shore Road at the time of this serious incident. “We are appealing to these young people to speak to police if they witnessed this incident which has left three teenagers with injuries. “Equally, if anyone has heard any information while at school or college – or on social networking sites – I’d urge them to inform police and this will be investigated.” A 17-year-old boy from Lytchett Matravers has been arrested an bailed while police make further enquiries.

I posted the BBC Travel News report above, I doubt if they'd have said it was; "a police incident." if they were re-surfacing the road.

1. 1ish isn't that late for a 16 year old to be out, especially on nye. I was out that late plenty as a young lad and turned out fine.
