Councillor sacked

What's happened with the Standards case with councillor Wheeldon? has it all happened? Is she still on the council? was she at the town council and the planning committee of the district last week? is there going to be a report abt it?

... and another thing

Shore Road was infested with a plague of flying insects today (Saturday 18 February). Anybody know what they were and whether the new sand had anything to do with it?

NEW SUBJECT

If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment in this section — just click first on Comments (bottom right), then on Post a comment (bottom left of the next window), and a new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message.

Literary locals

In my view there are not enough outlets for Swanage folk to read and enjoy the poetry, the stories, and articles created and written by Swanage folk.

For here it seems to me, is a very large untapped source of local history, poetry and verse. A host of interesting tales and stories from our own people: Swanage Folk.

That begs the guestion..Are there any Clubs, Associations or Societies, that can provide space for this local talent?

Pensions Time Bomb

Did anyone else see the program last week on Channel 4 ( or was it BBC2 ?) about public sector pensions ?.

Anyway the startling fact came out that 26% of all council tax payments go towards final salary pensions for the public sector. And they retire at 60 !!!

New kiosk?

So I see Swanage Town Council, our guardians of good taste and aesthetics, want to erect another ice cream hut on the beach close to Ocean Bay. Why not give the concession to someone to vend ice cream on the beach on foot, and get rid of all those tacky huts, not create another.

Dare I ask about Camper Vans?

What's wrong with people in camper vans? It seems to me this just isn't properly managed in order to attract such types to a suitably facilitated site, perhaps close to the beach with a view of the bay. Swanage has hardly any hotels or guest houses left, and if folks want to come for a few days and move on then in honesty, beggars can't be choosers. What is gained by chasing them away? They wont suddenly check into The Grand instead.
