New Subject

If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment in this section — just click first on Comments below, then type in Post a comment (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized.

Probably get accused of cross posting, but what the hey!

"www.virtual-swanage.co.uk forums had a lively debate going about SBVHP. But suddenly the forums have been removed.
A case of censorship"?

Sure is.

Since

http://www.swanageforum.co.uk/

had its re-vamp I've steered clear of posting, cuz it usually ended in a scrap. But I've still been lurking!

This morning I read the Taxi fare, um, debate which of course involves our Mike.

Now Mike had posted the info contained on the PDC site about Taxi fares. As I know 1 or 2 of the drivers I kept quiet as I knew that PDC had changed the fares and not updated their website.

Oh, how awful, our District Council supplies duff info!

Mike had acted in 'best faith' and was getting criticised by the lovely justalocal.

Paulinho - the moderator - posted some silly figures about the mileage and the cost of petrol - totally ignoring all the other costs.

Good old 'jal' - who's made a few attempts at casting himself as victim, sorry, trying to inspire some open debate, just launched into him, full on broadside - well it is Trafalgar day - and actually made some good points but in a most childish way.

I got home his evening and booted up the old computer to check on developments - and SHOCK, HORORR, PPP, sorry, Paulinhos Play Pen has censored things without letting anyone know!

How draconian is that?

Mind you they do all admit to reading newspapers that are right of centre - except of course jal who went to the Secondary mod and so has an excuse for his selective mis-spellings.

PS

I went to SGS and earn far more than the Swanage average, one of my brothers who went to Sec Mod earns (legally) 6 times more than I do.

Strange that.

Oh, by the way.

There have been a few crytic remarks about the removal of postings, but, hey, they're just too nice to say anything directly.

Kinga, sorry your business didn't work out, but damn fine response to jals ramblings.

Thank you and good night

0 out of 3

That's how high Purbeck Housing Trust have just been rated.

Just think, PDC one of whose main aims is to provide affordable housing are against the Lychett Minster development and even if they weren't, then this 0 out of 3 body would be in charge of the affordable bit!

I would just like to say that the forum is moderated by 3 people, I'm just the most active. I never deleted any of the posts on there. All I seen to do is change someones maraton of bad spelling and piss poor grammar mistakes after complaints.
I would also like to point out that my figures were factually based (sorry if I can do maths), and my follow up post that never made the light of day showed even more details. What Mr Anonymous failed to read was that I wasn't in favour of either way of travel,I was just showing the numbers, which is far more than most people can even be arsed to do.
I also take offence with the term PPP, Pauls Play Pen, and I surgest if they Mr Anonymous has a problem with what happens on the forum then they should come to my place of work and try to put there point across.

Perhaps rather than feel sorry for "our mike" you could instruct him to speak to trevor heritage or his very able assitant about the changes in the taxi fares, if he had trouble doing that a problem I did not have, he could as I did go and ask the taxi controller and 3 seperate drivers, also a relative was charged the higher rate, when using the taxi before midnight. "our mike" seemed to take what was on the web site as gospell he even suggested that the drivers could loose their licences or face criminal charges considering "our mike" is a local councilor his advice was at the least misinformed or at the worst downright digracefull. When proved wrong after some time he did not even have the guts to say sorry.

Yes I went to SSM Im sorry I was not in the top 10% and only left with a basic education and I bet your pleased your brother earns all that money good for him, I have a relative who also earns about 5 or 6 times the average swanage wage, so what! As for Paulinho and the missing posts yes some do go missing and Im sure are "edited" The only reason that that forum is busy is that 50% of the subjects are so mundane but people like to post so good on them. M.Hadley was obnoxious in his assertion that he was right about the taxi fares but he was wrong. dont have a go at the posters who were correct you may not like them but some times even "our mike" is wrong god forbid.

I read with interest that Swanageforum.co.uk is closing on the 15th of November. Apparently some people were getting fed up with the moderation on there and one member just left.

But a new one has started up and i may join it to see if its any good @ http://www.swanage.forumer.com dont know what you all think?

What you say is slightly correct!

There were other issues as well, and your link seems to have nothing to do with Swanage.

But, hey, thanks anyway,

Swanage School Reorganisation
Just attended a meeting at the middle school about the DCC proposal to do away with the 3 tier system. This is really vital stuff for swanage as the result will be devasting for our children if it gets stuffed up.
Consultation has been minimal and the result is the sceme to close the best school we have and increase the numbers of kids travelling by hundreds.
DCC is really about to spend £50-£75 million pounds(their figures) on somthing we neither want nor need.
