Barge delivers sand from dredging Poole harbour, pumps around 2000 c m in 40 minutes on to the beach. Let's hope they finish putting in the new groynes before all the sand just goes straight out to sea again.

Why was all this financed nationally and not locally, whose beach is it? The Town Council charge concessionaires for the use of it, stop dogs going on it etc. What is wrong with standing on our own two feet? Where was the sinking fund? How can they justify spending £millions to stop natural erosion when a sensible sized swimming pool is out of the question? What is the importance of a bit of sand?
Does anyone know what happens to the bits they cut off? They would be fantastic fire wood!!!
Where do we apply to get our hands on it?
There is a new site with information on the beach recharge
http://www.poolebay.net/swanage.htm
Is that new website address correct? I can't get it to open
This sand is to protect the sea wall. I remember singing a chorous as a lad "The wise man built his house upon the rock" Not sand as the house would come tumbling down.
How long before we have to pay out for repairs to the sea wall which is time expired and just putting sand infront of it to protect it is rediculous. All that will happen is we will have a mini Morecombe Bay where at low tide we will have to walk miles to go for a swim.
I have all of the offcuts and recycle them as toothpics. They tend to be a bit salty but the taste of the creasote soon takes that away.
