There is supposed to be an exhibition about proposed changes to Swanage Conservation areas - in the Town Hall annexe today (3 March) until.......tomorrow Saturday 4 March.

The remarkable thing about the existing conservation area is how much it leaves out. For example the railway station is left out. Even stranger is the inclusion of K's Amusements but the omission of the White House (tourist information centre) and Fishermans Catch.
Its a pity there was not some joined up thinking a couple of years ago and this exercise made part of the consultation process for producing the town plan as a conservation area designation is very much a tool in realising a vision of what out town should be like. Dealt with in isolation like this it becomes something regarded as another hoop for developers to jump through.
