Access guide for Swanage

ACCESS GUIDE FOR SWANAGE

I am compiling information for an Access Guide to help disabled people in Swanage, whether resident or visitors. This will initially cover the town centre and the routes in and out, businesses that offer disabled access or assistance, and those that visit or deliver. There will also be a map showing drop crossing points and how to get around in a wheelchair or on a travel scooter that can’t climb kerbs.

If anybody would like to contribute, please e-mail me at

s.darrington@btopenworld.com

Thank you.

Steve, a very useful exercise,I have wheelchair, but have never used it in Swanage, it was too dangerous compared with other towns, But since then, the Council have dropped several kerbs. But nowhere near enough.

Brian,
I'm sorry to hear that you find Swanage too dangerous to use your wheelchair, compared to other towns. That is exactly why I started my campaign to have more drop kerbs installed here. If you're interested, you can read the history and latest developments at:

Meanwhile, I hope that people reading your comments will take note and realise how important this matter is to those with impaired mobility who rely on wheelchairs etc.
