Road works?

The third road crossing [outside Somerfield] is currently having works done. Is any of this work really necessary, where is the gain, what is the cost?

I imagine that this relates to the new pelican crossings that are being installed --- which I suppose must be safer than the existing...

Whilst posters on Swanageview are the fount of all wisdom and its flattering to be asked about these crossings it took the first poster about the same effort to ask us what they cost as it would to have emailed the highways dept of dcc and asked the people who know the answer. They should realise the basic rule for publishing opinions here is to have absolutely no knowledge of any real facts!
