What is happening in Washpond Lane between Brickyard Lane and the turning before Herston Yards Caravan site ? There is a huge amount of fairly unsympathetic tree felling and hedge clearance; and the adjoining fields are all marked out with posts and tapes. Is this some kind of environmental improvement work ? the pleasant wooded lane is going to take years to recover and right now is a total mess. Does anybody know ?

Phone Purbeck District Council [01929 556561] and ask for Planning: they'll tell you more.
I have spoken with PDC and they have no knowledge of any development work there. I went past myself (and agree with the report of tree/hedge destruction)and saw what looked like stakes linked by ribbons or rope across the field.. but across the road there's a similar arrangement which appears to be for grazing or similar.Suggest you post another comment if you see further developments.
