Mark Hix, ex chef director of Caprice Holdings, the owner of London restaurants the Ivy, Le Caprice and Scott’s is opening a restaurant in Lyme Regis.
Gary Rhodes, he of the hair, is opening 2 in newly refurbed hotels in Christchurch.

Will I be missing anything!

Didn't Mark Hix have the The Riverside restaurant in West Bay?
He certainly tried to buy it, but according to their webite it's been owned by the same people since 1964.
How cum Swanage never attracts a top chef? Could it be they are attracted to Christchurch and Lyme Regis because they have working harbours? As we know, Swanage folk in their wisdom turned down a harbour because they knew the yachties would bring nothing to the Town...
There are some people who react with horror at the notion of trying to attract visitors who have a decent amount of money to spend as part of a strategy of moving Swanage upmarket. Lyme Regis has a lot less of the seaside tat we have and the social demographic of its tourists reflects this. A top quality restaurant in isolation is like having a diamond in a piece of custume jewellery.
Ah, yeah, but where you find one diamond there may be more.
I wonder if the fleet up by Sheps Hollow would've stayed their evening meal if .....
The Tratt was good.
Reasonably comfortable, brilliant service, one OK course, one bloody good, and one, hmmmmm.
I wasn't paying, but from the prices I saw, it was pricey.
But it was a good night, and nice to catch up with Louise.
Ms Forte as we used to call her!
