New Subject

If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment in this section — just click first on Comments below, then type in post a comment (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized. And any posts that become too provocative, insulting, threatening or otherwise unpleasant will be deleted.

The Mowlem

Next time you walk past the Mowlem, look at the concrete that overhangs the sea. That's not good

Death Alley

Once again we have a sunny half term day with hundreds of families with their kids playing on the beach. The amusement arcade, the ice cream shop and the toilets are all on the other side of the road along which two way traffic can proceed at 30 miles an hour against a fence of parked cars, vans and suvs. There have already been deaths here. Why o why isn’t the road closed all year around?

How come Windfarm off Swanage!?
gets posted up but The Mowlem and Death Alley don't?

An explanation. There may often be a delay in posting new subjects, simply because I'm not sitting by my computer all day to do it.

Prepare for the Olympics!

There will be a meeting at the Town Hall, Swanage, on Friday 6th March, from 3 - 4.30, to discuss how we can plan and prepare and make the most of the Sailing Olympics at Weymouth in 2012. Gary Fooks, Olympic Legacy Manager, will be present to discuss how this once in a lifetime opportunity could provide benefits before the Olympics, during the events and a lasting legacy beyond.Anyone in busines or interested in entreprenurial opportunities should try to be there. If we don't riot, Labour are likely to be obliterated in a general election.
If we do riot, there won't be one.

Interesting?

Co-operative Group to close Somerfield

Peter Marks, the chief executive of The Co-operative Group, has revealed that he plans to close Somerfield's head office in Bristol next year, putting hundreds of jobs at risk, and that it will take "at least two years" to convert more than 650 Somerfield stores to its own brand.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/cooperative-group-to-close-somerfield-hq-1623070.html

If Coop are converting all the Somerfields, they must be planning to sell Somerfield in Swanage otherwise we would have two Coops !

Yet more job losses which the town dosnt need.

It's my understanding that somebody who owns the Swanage domain is working on a new Swanage site and forum to replace the closed one. Does anyone know anymore on this?

£75 * 10 to the power of 9

£75,000,000,000

It may yet go up to £150,000,000,000 - and probably further if necessary.

Well, I loathed the ´80ś - 3 million unemployed - an acceptable cost - my a*/e; get on your bike, Miner´s strike and then LOADSAMONEY, Yuppies, Conspicuous consumption.

Let´s hope it works.

An architect bought the house that was for sale overlooking the mill pond to use as a holiday home (The lady who owned it left strict instructions in her will to sell it to a local family but her family ignored her wishes).

The builders have now put a huge Velux window in the front roof, ruining the look of the entire row.

It's a conservation area, a much photographed area in the town and yet the town planner said he was too busy when a neighbour phoned up to complain.

If you object to it, please let the council know.

Dear 6:45 PM

That's a blog not a forum.

I was told in a meeting that it would be just called Swanage, and the forum would be a part of it.

Any information would be great.

Dear 11:57 AM

I wish anyone who wants to start a local forum and website the best of luck with it and I hope they enjoy the fun you have with moderation and removal of offensive and sexual posts which forums seem to attract!

Next time I see the owner of swanage.co.uk and .com, I will wish him the best of luck personally with his new project.
