I just wondered why neither the local advertiser or the local gazzete picked up on the recent story of a Swanage drug dealer going to prison. Was this due to them not wanting people to think Swanage has a drug scene? or was it for some other strange reason.

if you have the story, why don't you tell us?
Was that the dealer who had the shop near jewsons and his workers have contacts in the local press offices?
That's the one, I understand his house has just been sold which jogged my memory.
I think the local Echo covered the story as did one of the major papers, but you would of though one of the local papers would have as well.
I know that the in prisoned dealer employed a few local people, one of whoms partners works for the local paper, but surely that's not the reason the story wasn't covered?
TWO men caught exchanging £155,000 of cocaine on a Bournemouth street have each been jailed for six years.
Roy Abley, 48, and Carl Coles, 29, were nabbed by police as Abley handed over a plastic bag of cocaine to Coles in Green Street in Bournemouth on August 23 last year, Bournemouth Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Robin Leach said that around 1.40pm police officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency watched Abley enter Green Road in Charminster driving a Mercedes van.
Abley was seen handing over a carrier bag to Coles who was intercepted by police as he drove away.
Abley was detained at the scene but Coles attempted to get away and ended up wedged between a wall and Abley’s Mercedes van after which officers also detained Coles.
When the bag was examined it was found to contain four packages of 4.01 kilos of cocaine.
Both men were arrested and their vehicles searched.
Officers discovered a fifth package inside Abley’s vehicle containing 1.01 kilos of cocaine.
Both men’s home addresses were searched and a further 1.43g of cocaine was found inside a mug at Coles’ address, the court heard.
Coles of Black Lane, Blandford, told police he had been asked to meet up and collect a bag adding: “I knew the bag didn’t contain fruit and veg”.
Coles added that he became involved after he got chatting to drugs dealers at a festival for Volkswagen enthusiasts in Northamptonshire.
They gave him a phone and told him they might need him to pick something up at a later date he told police.
Abley of Kings Road West, Swanage, ran a legitimate courier business bringing consignments from London to Bournemouth, the court heard.
He had suffered from depression after getting into debt which led him into “temptation”, the court heard.
Abley pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply cocaine.
Coles pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession of cocaine, driving whilst disqualified and having no insurance.
Coles was “vulnerable” and only realised at the last minute that drugs were involved, the court heard.
Ahhh - the means streets of Swanage!
Fascinating stuff! Big news in Swanage! After reading back on some old stories, I recently asked your question in both local paper offices about lack of local coverage - The Gazette said that they don't cover 'news' stories as they are a monthly magazine(fair point) and most news is out of date, or has already been covered by the Echo by the time they go to print. The Advertiser IS the Echo, so they did cover the story, only it was only printed in the Echo and not duplicated in The Advertiser.
Also asked both offices if non-coverage was due to some sort of dodgy connection, as you have implied: 'I know that the in prisoned dealer employed a few local people, one of whoms partners works for the local paper, but surely that's not the reason the story wasn't covered?'
Both offices said no member of staff has any connection to anyone employed by Abley, so perhaps a bit of dodgy incorrect info posted here instead?
