I wonder how many other people have been experiencing broadband and telephone problems in this area. A number of people I know have, so now I am very suspicious that there is a really big BT line problem in the area that we have not been informed about. After a totally trouble free period for many years about January 3rd my broadband started to drop out intermittently and inconsistently- many times it was when I had an incoming or outgoing phone call- but not always. I have now spent HOURS with computer experts and my Broadband supplier, had my internal telephone wiring and filters checked out and the main socket moved and the wireless box hardwired etc.etc. and STILL there is a problem.
If we do find out that a large number of us are being affected in the same way then we can at least make case to BT. Many of us have spent a lot of money trying to solve the problems with computer and telpephone engineers. If it turns out that a lot of us have been affected by unnannounced work I will certainly want to take this up with BT. So please let me know if you are affected.

We have had loads of calls from bt customers over the last week with people complaining the site was down when it was live, if they used a different DNS server they could access it ok so it must be a issue with BT and their DNS systems.
I tried a lot of the 'cheapy' ISP's 'back in the day', and found them to be very unreliable. Since switching to BT I've found it to be a reliable, if not blindingly fast, service.
I get the occasional 'difficulty', but nowhere near as bad as previous 'experiences'.
Perhaps they are laying some fiber optics for us
I am tempted to say you get what you pay for. If you think your ISP is not up to scratch go to http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ and look at the users reviews and ratings of the various companies. None of the top ten in the user ratings are in the top ten for size or putting it another way all the big players come out mediocre or worse. None of the top ten for performance are bargain basement offerings. Most are quite small and you get a much higher level of service. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
The Swanage Blues website at www.swanage-blues.org became unavailable to many people using BT Broadband on Thursday 4 March 2010 before the festival until Tuesday 9 March afterwards.
I received many reports from people all across the UK, so it wasn't just a local issue.
Major BT outages were the cause of the disruption twice in the last two weeks

Hi, I live in Corfe Castle and have also had problems - mainly fluctuating download speeds, which appeared to have been fixed on the 12th, but they are all over the place again this week. I am a customer of an ISP with a very good reputation for reliable connections and fast download speed - http://www.fast.co.uk. They have been great but cannot seem to get BT to acknowledge that there is a problem.
I'm partly involved with a new a website http://purbeckbroadband.co.uk which we hope will draw attention to the underlying problem(s), plus serve as a news and information site.
We are also trying to start up a mailing list, so that we can alert people to possible problems, who can then complain to our ISPs who in turn will complain to BT - the more people who report a problem, the quicker BT will fix it!
On 24/3/10 we lost our broadband several times through the day. This is a massive issue for a largely internet business like us (Charlie The Bikemonger)
BT told us all was OK.
BT are putting our business at risk. We are unable to communicate with customers, unable to access orders, and unable to send orders. May as well flip the sign to closed and go home.
Something is wrong with BT. And they are not being straight with us.
A reliable broadband link is critical for commerse in Purbeck.
