Sorry, Mike - a sound Topper is worth more than a used kayak. Are you prepared to throw in some cash?

I would be, but I need a place to sail from. I expect it is too late to join the sailing club for this season??

Might you be interested in a cash sail (I mean, sale)!?

If I were you I'd sail from some dry land into that big wet thing!

I've got a Bowler that I'd love to swop for something .......

Tumbleweed would be good!

Oh dear. We are superior, aren't we?

A simple 'We regret' or 'Thank you for your interest' would have been kinder.

But I am glad for you that you are so successful that you can afford to be so brusque.

That's the trouble with the printed word, it can so easily be misconstued. It was a simple statement of fact. I was not trying to address the person personally, merely trying to make clear that we were unable to accomodate any more members this year and have quite a few applicants waiting. The "We regret" and "unfortunately we are unable" come in the personal replies to applicants.
As to being superior, nothing could be farther from the truth, we are a down to earth club run by local people. We have a great mix of members from all walks of life, again mainly local. It is simply the lack of space that limits our numbers.

what would be necessary in order to allow an increase in members?
