I read on the Dorset Forum about a rumour going around about the seeming close Swanage or Wareham Police station closing this winter.
I've heard this before, but wondered if it was true this time?

Have you an English language translation of the above?
Having received papers relating to a court case in Royal Courts of Justice in London which implicated a person living in Poole. Itook the said papers to Swanage Police Station, but of course it was closed. I drove to Wareham and the civilian looked at the papers and said she could not receive them and would call in a police officer,
An hour later when no officer had shown up I re-seal the envelope and left it with the civilian at Wareham Police Station.
A couple of days later I had a call from a DI in Poole who was handling the investigation regarding the person.
Therefore I am of the opinion that both Swanage and Wareham Police Station are affectively CLOSED.
Well, Studland, Corfe and Wool used to have police stations. I understand that they're now 'out of bands' to civilised people!
Swanage does have a police presence at least twice a day, when they the Police vehicle is parked outside the Mowlem and again when it is collected later in the day.
How's it go; you can fool some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.
Do you want the police sitting in the cop shop waiting for callers or out policing?
Do you want them ambling around at the regulation pace unable to pursue anything faster than a tortoise or driving?
Some people seem to think that of we had Victorian policemen then by some process of sympathetic magic we would he Victorian crime to go with it.
Its being called 'The Big Society'
In other words we do everything ourselves and not rely on others.
I wonder what happens when all government services are withdrawn and we are doing everthing for ourselves. Will we still have to pay taxes ??

shouldn't we be happy that its such a safe place to live that we don't need police everywhere
