Big cat in Swanage?

‘BIG CAT SIGHTING IN PEVERIL. at 2030 on Tuesday 17th April. I was in our second bedroom when I looked through the window and saw a large black feline about 15 feet away with the body size of a Labrador dog, but with shorter legs, and a thick straight tail, round head and pointed ears. It spanned about two 18 inch paving slabs, when he saw me he did an about turn and cleared our six foot garden fence in one bound. RobO Posted by Anonymous to swanageview at 20/4/12 4:55 PM

There have been sightings of a big cat in Dorset before. It is probably a black puma. I went to a talk about big cats for the Purbeck Society but there was no conclusive evidence of a big cat. On one of my moonlight walks to Durlston I heard a heavy animal run through the undergrowth and give a loud growl. The rangers at Dulston thought it was a badger. I would be interested to read any reports of big cats in the ranger's daily diary.

I have also seen a large black cat, I was up near the old "tip" walking with a friend and saw a large black walking in a field to the right of us.

The cat was very visable even though it was two fields away.

I have seen a large cat cross the road while cycling to the ferry last year. Not really seen anything else on my travels.

When the last ferry traffic has gone the deer come onto Ferry Road in their scores and lick the road surface for the salt. Have any mutilated deer been found in the area as it would be an ideal menu for a Big Cat.

I saw one at the Blue Pool once wrestling with a serpant like monster.
