The Sun goes out over Swanage because some twit decided the airliners from UK Airports heading to the South and West could fly low level (5,000 -10,000 feet), then clime to their designated flight level, (30-40,000feet) when they get several miles south of Swanage! Not only do they cause vapour trails which blot out the sun, but when they apply full power to clime the noise from their engines blasts Swanage from before sunrise to Rob O

Is it as bad as that Rob? Can't say I've been aware of constant plane noise, and thought the vapour trails the other day looked rather beautiful!

Hi Rob, that sky looks a mess! We do get some aircraft activity over the Forest due to Bournemouth and Southampton airports but mostly way high in the sky - so little or no noise.
Oh its not that bad, just a reminder that even in Swanage we are part of a much bigger world! (3 tries at proving im not a robot)
If you do not like the sight of occasional contrails, just wait until they build that windfarm off the coast.....

Never heard any engine noise from a passenger plane in Swanage.
Rob must be running out of things to moan about.
Did you know these vapour trails actually help reduce global warming. They act as a mirror reflecting the suns rays.
In fact when all flights were grounded after 9/11 the average temperatures in the USA rose 2 degrees.
