Can somebody please tell me what the Chamber of Commerce actually contributes to the town?
"Everyone with an interest in improving the future for business in and around the Swanage area is very welcome at any of our meetings." says their April 2006 minutes, the latest on the website.
But what has the Chamber actually done?

That's unfair. What about the notice board above the station, telling people who they are?

It's now becoming very clear to me, being new to the area and reading all the comments on this website.
Swanage has some of the components of a proper town - arts centre, chamber of commerce, but they don't actually perform the functions associated with those roles.
They exist in words but not in deeds.
Or am I wrong?
