I guess that it wouldn't need the stilts, and those that say that it wouldn't 'fit' with the surrounds should look at the - no offence meant - sailing club and the grosvenor site.
Padstow lifeboat station is situated at the bottom of a cliff, isolated from other buildings. It does not form part of the town or villagescape. Although it looks large on this photo it is quite small compared with the natural features surrounding it.
Is there any intention to replace the Swanage one? It was enlarged to take the new boat a few years ago.

padstow is a quaint cornish seaside village if they can live with it then we can.
