Two bits of good news in one day - don't things come in threes?

£5.8M seems an incredibly large amount of money to spend when £2M on the new industrial estate can generate 250 jobs. How many jobs will be created in Durlston? How will people get there and where will extra visitors park? Will the country park loose it’s "no talking, don't walk on the grass, twitchers only" image?

Mebbie that's the difference between throwing up modern workspaces and restoring a listed tumble down?

This is not a fair comparison at all. What does the figure for enlarging the industrial estate include. Is it just roads and groundworks, Does it include sheds? In any case to compare you need to add the investment firms will have to make in equipment etc. Are they claiming there will be 250 jobs on the expansion area or that this is a total including jobs created elsewhere as a result of this stimulus to the local economy?

The Durlston investment has to be seen as infrastructure for growing Jurassic coast tourism. This supports an increasing number of jobs. In any case the building has severe structural problems and needs a lot of money spending on it to stop it deteriorating further so a high proportion of the money will go on this.

They do just about everything at DCP to keep people away. They throw mountain bikers off, the car parking charges are horrendous and it is barely signposted or advertised.

Many's the time I've tried to wind up various Country Park staff over their erroneous belief that DCP should be preserved as pseudo Victoriana viewscape.

But that's only in fun.

DCP is basically a nature reserve, on which people can walk to their hearts content - or failure.

It is preferred that we don't walk all over, or pick, the rather lovely flora.

But, so far as I'm aware, the staff can't ban us from anywhere in the park.

As they're the experts tho', shouldn't we follow their advice?

And as for mountain bikers - where are the the Bridleways?
Please remember, it's only 280 acres - let's respect it.

If car parking is so expensive, why not leave your car at home, or park somewhere cheaper.

I wonder what advertising budget they have?

Dear 1:03
seems your right, 2mill for infrastructure.
UP TO 250 jobs, which I think means - could be, might be, eventually.

Still, it's a start.
