I think that a wind farm would be a good thing for the area. It will show that this town isnt a backward cul-de-sac full of ninbys who want everything to stay the same as when they came here to die.
It will also help to provide energy in a time when other forms of fuel are going up in price.
Personally I think a row of them along the purbeck hills would be a good idea.
Tidal power needs a wide tidal range. The snag is that around here its about the lowest in the country, e.g. 1 metre at Kimmeridge. The Severn estuary by contrast has 15 metres, one of the largest in the world, which is why a tidal barrage scheme is proposed for there.
What some forget in their desire to preserve the world in aspic is that our landscape has constantly changed, is an industrial landscape (farming, quarrying, etc.) and will continue to change. Wind farms...all for em! Peverilpen
Wind farms are a great idea, provide cheap power, until they are in your garden.
Wake up everybody. These giant fans are built by money grabbing corporations whose only wish is to get the huge government subsidies to put them up. Why don't we all have government provided solar panels? God knows how many leaflets we have thru our doors telling us how wonderful they are, we could build factories to make them, make thousands of new jobs, etc etc. same old stuff. It wont happen because the companies that can do it, will not get tax money from us... Environment does not matter to business. get Real!
Talking of 'the environment' does it bug anyone else the statement on the PDC handouts, 'Thriving commuities in balance with the natural environment' !!
I'm really pleased this has annoyed someone else, I thought it was just me!! I was told, throughout my studies for social/environmental sciences that there is no such thing as a natural environment. Our environment is continually being impacted on by people eg. the land by quarrying, the atmosphere by polution. As for thriving communities, they don't seem to be too thriving at the moment. There is a lot of work for us all to do before they become 'thriving!!'.

Wind farms are beautiful. Support this 100 per cent.
This is the type of thing local councillors should be campaigning FOR not against. Instead we get Donald Hiett denying climate change.
I would like to see a benefit/payback comparison with tidal power. After all, the tide goes in and out (almost) all day, while the wind comes and goes
