COUNCIL tax for Dorset County Council residents could rise by nearly three per cent in April.
Band D householders in towns including Blandord, Christchurch, Swanage and Wimborne could each pay an extra £33.75 a year if proposals for a 2.97 per cent tax rise are approved at a meeting of all councillors in February.

Now we have to wait for the precept for Swanage to be set: that is the portion of the council tax that goes back to Swanage. Needs to be realistic, to cover all the operational and maintenance costs of running the town.
Who are you putting first?
The people or the Town?
Er, both I suppose. The town is run for the people. Without covering running costs, the whole system collapses...
Please could the council increase the second home council tax to at least 100%. 10% discount is a joke.
Please could PDC then keep the extra tax to spend on this area of Purbeck. It seems we need it !
Here's to a Happy New Year.

Increase second home council tax to at least 100% - then reinvest it locally.
