If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment here — just click first on Comments below, then type in post a comment (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized. Allotment rumours.

STC are considering moving the allotments and Swanage Footy Club onto the Grammar school site.

Presumably this so they can sell the current site to raise money - if that's allowed.

The timing also seems a bit strange seeming as how PDC have id'd the site as possible for housing.

But STC only own a bit of the Grammar school site so how could they? I don't care very much if either or both sites are built upon, we need the houses, especially if we can attract rich retirees to buy them. However agricultural land is much cheaper and it only takes a wave of the planning authorities wand to change that status.

you know what pisses me off is that i have just read the advert on the front of the advertiser "Victorian Swanage dine in style", there was nothing that took my fancy so I looked at the other Wessex Belle menus only to be horrified to find "Devon Crab Pate"

Swanage has a knack for scoring own goals.

DCC own most of the Grammar site, it was they who sold the building and a limited amount of the grounds to .... I can't remember their name, but they then sold it on to their own Directors.

What we need is mixed housing developments not ghettos of rich retirees. Agreed about the agricultural land tho'.

New topic: New Peveril Point Parking Restrictions
After going down to Peveril Point last night I saw there are new signs on all the lamp posts saying that you can no longer park on the sides of the road unless you have a permit and you need to contact Alan Leeson at the town hall.

As these “signs” are just bits of paper taped to the lamp posts does anyone know if there are official parking restrictions in place or have the residents put them up?

Perhaps someone needs to set me straight on this one, BUT people with blue disability badges seem to be parking all over the town, and in the most inappropriate places? Many a time the occupants of the vehicle jump out and set off on their way with aliments undetectable to me. It would help if far more double yellow lines had “no loading or unloading at any time” kerb markings (where double yellow lines actually mean what they say). What concerned me were the cars parked with blue badges along Victoria Avenue today. People were obviously attending the market, but could park with better access IN the car park. They just used their blue badges to avoid paying for parking in the car park. Also at the bottom of Seymer Road/High Street there is terrible congestation for similar reasons. AND why can’t someone stop the bikers parking all over the Quay at weekends? ps don’t ask me to help they could get rough!

In case anyone isn't aware, the price of the ferry recently rose to 3.20 for a car. SWANAGE PEOPLE NOTE - you can buy a book of ten tickets for 26.50 - that's 2.65 each trip - a savings of 55p. You can buy a book at the ticket booth - cash or cheque - no cards.

End of regional Special stuff:
Hang on "That's why I have written to all councils to let them know from today they can make planning decisions in the knowledge Regional Strategies will soon be history." Eric Pickles Communities Secretary. So all the years of consultation are now written off? We don't have to have any more houses? David Budd's leaflet in this weeks advertiser is trash?

I was visiting a friend at the weekend, who has a caravan on Swanage Bay View. She has Japanese Knotweed growing in her garden!!!!!Has anyone else in Swanage have this dreadful invasive and damaging weed? It seems the site are not doing anything about it till next spring!!!!!I read in a newspaper that someone was refused a mortgage due to having Japanese Knotweed on their land. Thats how damaging this weed is.
