Does this group have any clout? Or is it merely a talk shop?
How many STC members turn up?
The Swanage Community Partnership does have an influence on how money is spent. It is a bit like an official version of the Swanage Residents Association. We could use it for issues like getting an NHS dentist.I don't know how much clout it has but they have not got the multi functional centre that their chairman wanted.
It has no connection with STC but some of their members turn up.

How can any body 'get' Swanage a(n NHS) dentist? Surely a dentist is a free person who cannot be ordered to work wherever he or she is told? A dentist will offer NHS service in Swanage if he or she wants to bring his/her business to Swanage.
The bottom line is that the UK lags behind almost every other country in terms of the number of dentists per capita; those who are in practice find private dentistry more lucrative. Those two obstacles will provide challenges for Swanage.
That's not quite correct, Silly Whim. In other areas (eg Wimborne I believe) the primary care trust has set up NHS dentistry
Bottom line is they have to hire one if all else fails.
I went to their meeting today. I do not think it was chaired very well. The meeting lasted 2 hours. 37 minutes was spent on the provision of a new school. The NHS dentist issue was not discussed under Health and Adult care but was put under AOB. We had less than 5 minutes to discuss this issue although it is more important and urgent than education. Everyone has teeth whereas may people do not have children that are the right age to be educated,
And what about housing issues , gypsy sites?
I think it would be best to wait for the minutes of the meeting as I did not take any notes. Chris McDermott did not attend but housing was mentioned. The Gyspy site has been badly handled by the consultants. Bill Trite thought the Government would scrap the issue.
The plan is to build 800 - 900 new houses at Herston or by the Grammar School. Not much we can do about this. Converting large houses near Durlston into flats does not count as providing new homes.
800 to 900 houses , thought it was only 200 to be built in Swanage?
