It's a sobering thought that one in three of us will get cancer, and it is, possibly, the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you, or a loved one, are diagnosed with cancer, you'll want to be reassured that there's a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way.
Chrissie Wathan-Neal, from Dorset Macmillan Cancer Support will be the guest of Swanaage Area Senior Forum at our monthly meeting on Wednesday 22nd February, 7pm, at the Swanage Day Centre.
Around 4,400 people are diagnosed with cancer in Dorset every year, and Macmillan trys to reach out and improve the lives of those people by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.
Come along to hear all about Macmillan, what they do, how they can help us and how we can help them.

Although cancer cannot be cured many people are surviving. More can be done to help these people such as free car parking at hospital, help getting them back to work and a more helpful attitude from holiday insurance companies.
Critical Illness Insurance?
It is difficult to get travel insurance if you have had cancer. Some insurance companies will not insure you unless you have been free of the disease for over 10 years. They overestimate the risk of people with cancer being taken ill while being on holiday.
Should anyone with cancer travel abroad anywhere, thus removing them from the care of the NHS?
It may be inconvenient, but there is no reason why an insurance company should offer cover to someone who is adjudged to be a risk. That is life.
