NO PARKING ON VERGE

Charlie the bikemonger said...

Don't park on the verge.

Today I was amazed to see over 20 "NO PARKING ON VERGE" signs along the road that is opposite swanage middle school running alongside the high street.

Over 20 signs? Some of these are less than a car length apart.

How much did this cost?
Why over 20 signs?
Why not build a few laybys and address the parking issue
If its to stop damage to the grass, you should see the damage done by the post installers.

They are an eyesore and excessive, surely someone has got something wrong.

Ask the Head Teacher of the Middle School. Or visit that area when school is letting out, and see the mayhem.

Why can't kids walk home? We used to. And the boogeyman didn't take us away. Had he tried, we would have kicked him to another county.

Kids today. And parents.....

There is clearly a need for more parking there, so tarmac over part of the grass and plant some trees. Did antone ask the residents what they thought?

If the kids live in Swanage they should walk home. I used to cycle 5 miles to my school or go by bus on my free bus pass.

If there are double yellow lines outside the Middle School people are not allowed to park on the grass verge anyway so why do we need signs?

It is half term this week and there seem to be more cars parked on the streets in Swanage than ever before. If there was free car parking in the car parks and a charge for parking on the roads fewer people would park on roads. Perhaps we could just have free car parking in the car parks in winter.

Or park by resident permit only.

There's no need to Tarmac anything , it's 3 miles around town , walk or cycle. Have we become that lazy?95% of travel in swanage in under 3 miles , it's not joined up writing:)

Won't be long before kids completely lose the use of legs the way things are going. I am pleased to see the notices as they will stop these silly people clogging up the place. Encourage your kids to walk please - it will help keep them fit.

What is this life if full of care

We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep, or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this, if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.
