Price check?

Can anybody recommend a good website that will help me to compare prices of everyday items over the last 50 years please?

I googled 'retail price index' and got this. Haven't explored further, but if this site can't help, there's a phone number that might take you somewhere useful ....

Retail Prices Index: monthly index numbers of retail prices (RPI)

RPI and percentage changes in RPI (inflation): monthly all items and other selected indices inc RPIX and RPIY.
