One of our readers has posted the following on the earlier listing:
I've just found that the site has now launched and does have some extremely good artists. Geoff Sewell and Blake are performing and I've just found you can buy tickets from £55 for a full day with an evening performance and free camping so I've just purchased tickets! I'd suggest people look at the site as it has everything on there about the festival including the artists and the people behind the event - which includes Geoff Sewell. I hope that helps everyone!

Classical music - light. Sounds like Classic FM meets Glastonbury with a twist of Britain's Got Talent - where is Paul Potts??
What's the wet weather programme???
It sounds very light weight - more of a crossover festival judging by what they are offering. Not in the same league as last years complete Haydn quartets performed over 9 days by some of the worlds leading string quartets in a hotel in Taunton.
Agreed. I won't be going.....
You have just inspired me to go and put a quartet cd on, but it will be Beethoven.
What happened to the idea of Swanage RNLI to put on an opera in the amphitheater instead of Shakespeare this Summer? It would be much easier to hear. A tented structure could be put up for the season to allow lots of events on this under utilised area. And plenty of room for camping!
This is slightly unrelated but I think that an opportunity was missed when the Mowlem was rebuilt. Instead of the theatre being at the front of the building and across it it should have been on the other axis with a glass wall behind the stage so the view of the bay would form a backdrop. That would have been a stunning venue on a summer evening.
sorry 4.39 but it wouldn't because it faces north east
5.41 The view across Swanage Bay to the white cliffs of the Isle of Wight is stunning!! And, you would not want west facing windows with blazing sunshine coming into the concert hall - had it been constructed as 4.39 states.
Perhaps we could demolish it and float the IMAX in Bournemouth over to Swanage?!? They don't seem to want it.
This is 4.39. I just checked. The orientation is about 20 degrees north of east. As it was built the restaurant and community room got the view. If its a good enough view for diners and bridge players surely its good enough for concert goers. The restaurant did their best to ignore the view by putting up curtains and blinds and to the best of my knowledge made no attempt to capitalise on it.
Anybody from Swanage going??
Let's see.....punters drive down, turning west at Corfe.....eat, drink and camp at the venue..... stay there overnight under canvas....drive home next day, or whenever.
How is this of any benefit to Swanage? Sounds as though there will be very little spin-off trade for us.
