The 2010 Spirit of the Sea Festival, held in Weymouth and Portland have
expanded the event from nine days to 14 days to attract more visitors from
around the country. The festival will take place between 3 and 16 July
2010. Roy Griffiths, the event managers from Creative Solutions, has stated
that they are looking for a title sponsor for the festival. Festival
attractions will include the hugely successful Dorset Seafood Festival, a
series of concerts on the beach and a marine exhibition. Anyone with ideas

Nice to know - but how can this benefit Swanage? Seems to be in competiton with us at the height of the tourist season.
I think the point is how do we either leverage this to our advantage (with all those extra people in the neighbourhood) or how do we develop something of similar stature (if we want to...)

I take your point Postman - this will be a useful tool to see how Swanage can divert people to stop in, while en route to Weymouth, ahead of the Summer Olympics of 2012.
Let's learn a few lessons now, and not too late!
