Bubble & squeak?

We have had hundreds of extra restaurant seats added this season, at the Caravan Park, Ocean bay, Moonlight Bistro, and now, opposite Purbeck Lighting, another application. Could this be a bubble forming like in the early 1990's?

I wonder if the council will let us see the accounts for the restaurant at the Muni in due course? The others that have just opened may struggle to get through a Swanage winter judging by the lack of heads I note in some of them.

Its not the number of tables, or "covers" as they say in the trade that worries me, it the rubbish the Great British Public are happy to eat. What a choice you get here, Factory made Cornish Pasty and chips at one end of the market, pre-prepared variations on stew pretending to be "Braised lamb shank served in a red wine, mushroom & tarragon jus" at the other.

I suppose I shouldn't grumble. Its not as if kids get any education about decent food as we saw in the recent expose about school meals. The blind, or should it be the sweet and bland, leading the blind I suppose. Oh for one establishment prepared to serve freshly prepared locally sourced food, but this a nation that won't eat a thing that hasn't seen the inside of a food factory or which looks and tastes as though it might have been alive.

I definately want to see the accounts of the muni restaurant. I trust a true cost centre is established so that, for example, part of the cost of the car park, cleaning, advertising in the White House, Town Clerks time etc etc is attributed to the restaurant. If they are having to take half page adverts in the local paper (Advertiser 14th July)then something must be seriously wrong.
