New Car Park

The planned resurfacing has been postponed until shortly before Easter next year. Thanks councillors for sorting this out.

The resurfacing of the lower High Street will cause traffic chaos with cars backed up in Institute and Station Road. Will someone please organise the temporary reversal of Church Hill to help alleviate the problem? "Please find an alternative route" is rather ironic. Now the local elections are over perhaps we will see some action to provide a permanent solution to the problem of accessing the Pier/Durlston without using the Town centre. Maybe there will be the resolve to close the Shore Road too.

Personally I agree, but when reversing Church Hill was put out to the good old public, they rejected it.

Did I miss the parish referendum on this?

Well done!

Delayed rather than sorted.

Do the Council have the power to suggest reversing Church Hill again?

And if they do, ADVERTISING that it's a possibility.

Maybe I should go to the next Council meeting and ask about the reversing of the High Street.

Apathy versus action.

I believe that this was investigated and a survey carried out by DCC, who found a 50/50 spilt between those for and against reversing Church Hill: so decided to leave it. Most recent idea floated was to reverse traffic flow on High Street from top of Court Hill down to the Library. I think that proposal is still on the table.

Reversing the traffic flow in Church Hill was rejected for very good reasons and anyone who has a contrary view should familiarize themselves with the local area and read the Councils conclusions. If they continue with their contrary view they can console themselves that "the good old public" had some influence in what must be regarded as a democratic decision.

I've been a lookin', an got bored.

So I've emailed our Lords n Masters.

"Perhaps I'm being really dim here, but the only part of the Winter '06 newsletter - I couldn't find Spring '06 - that refers to road changes appears at the end of the bit on camper vans.
"A general review of traffic regulations is planned for the new year".

Just in case, today was 12-05-07

I then asked for Church Hill to be reversed with a give way on the High Street a la Court Hill.

PS
remember to copy and paste to a word processor before submitting your requests. It's always good to have records.

Sorry to be late, but dear 5:30 I and some of my friends live in Durlston.
5 out 7 minimum, mornings we go down Church Hill.
Please explain what difference it would make if we up Church Hill in the evening instead.

I agree that the whole town traffic flow & access needs to be reviewed but for heavens sake don't try to reverse an inadequate road with lots of inherent problems. There is a huge difference with traffic going UP a steep hill rather than down ...Having seen what happened in the past when it was reversed it is dangerous. The junction is bad as people come along the High St. FAST and the visibility is not good, a queue builds up and people roll back down the hill into each other while trying to join the high street...lots of revving and potential for crashes...NOT a good situation.

That's why you put the Give Way on the High Street.
