It was supposed to start in 2006, and it is nowhere near yet. If they are two years late deciding what to do, how long will it take to actually do anything? As far as I am aware there are no commitments to the things Swanage urgently needs most:
1) Pedestrianisation and a relief road to Durlston.
2) Harbour wall of some description.
3) Flood defence readiness for global warming.

I assume that you mean pedestrianisation of the town centre - nice, but not essential.
Relief Rd - where? Just redirect traffic so it doesn't have to go round town.
Harbour wall - nice, but not essential.
Flood defences! Um, umless the shore is stopped sliding into the bay, we'll have a natural defence.
What Swanage needs is more (affordable) housing and jobs that pay real wages.

The most amazing aspect of the whole thing is the glacial lack of speed. The final document will not be published until 2010. After that they may consider whether there is a need for a Swanage action plan. MAY CONSIDER!!!!!! A few more years for considering whether it is needed and then years more to produce it. Then more years to work out how to implement it. It will be 2020 before anything happens.
