Missing Advertiser?

Are you missing your Swanage Advertiser lately? It seems they've stopped delivering to parts of North Swanage and Durlston.
Anybody else not getting a copy?

Yep.

And it´s so hard to remember to pick up a copy in town.

Now was that 1. Yep, you are missing your Advertiser delivery? or 2. Yep, they have stopped delivering to parts of North Swanage and Durlston?

If so, I'm pleased you can get into town to pick up a copy, not everybody can.

The original post was a genuine enquiry, asking for people's opinions and trying to establish some facts about the distribution.

Please don't let anybody else be put off by the snide comments of someone who can't resist showing their ignorance.

Talking about ignorance there were 2 question marks.

Surely ´yep´ answers them both?

Yep, yep!

As you didn´t say anything about having mobility problems I didn´t assume that you do have.

Post the full story - don´t assume that the rest of us can read minds.

Now, if you´d like to post your contact details then, when I´m picking up my Advertiser I´ll be more than happy to get you a copy and deliver it.

How sad this blog gets sometimes.

To 'Yep' from the poster of the original thread.

Someone I know who is infirm told me that the Swanage Advertiser had not been delivered for some time. I realised that I'd not been getting one either. On asking a few other people in the pub, someone said they'd heard the Advertiser has cut down on delivering to "difficult" areas such as North Swanage and Durlston.
It's not just a matter of me or the lady getting a copy. Think of the bigger picture, what if you want to advertise an event or something to sell?
Why do some people on this blog turn a simple request for information into such a big issue?

Anonymous said...

Why not simply phone the advertiser and ask? They are the nes wh know where it is delivered, not the people who read this blog.

I receive the Advertiser every week, and I live on Durlston Road.

Maybe you don't leave the mincepies outside your door...

It's probably down to money. When my offspring delivered the paper just a few years ago the payment was derisory. If the Advertiser pays similar rates these days it is a wonder to me that anyone does it. Particularly if the payment is based just on the number of papers delivered and you have a round where there are long drives and fair distances between the properties.

Dear 326 the reason some folks on this blog turn a simple request into a big issue is that it is inhabited by a small amount ( I would say 6 or so) of arrogant idiots who think they are superior to the rest of us they are mainly left wingers and champagne socialist the "righteous"! to be honest I have given up on here they dont like any one who has any views other than their labour loving opinions. note one of them is a teacher I would be ashamed of admitting that, teachers were always respected when I was at school and i still call them mr/mrs when I see them around town. post anything on here and you get " I remember 20 years ago etc etc" they forget this pile of $$$$ we have now have had 12 years to put things right. you need to do 2 things either not post or use the Dorset forum, the webmaster on here is usless (perhaps to busy?)

oh dear 3.17
You don't seem very happy. I haven't posted for a while. I'm not a teacher but how do you tell when an anyonymous is a teacher or not.
Sorry to be ignorant!

Obviously I meant; is saying about us.

Oh, how standards have dropped.

And I´m a Teacher!

Never started sentences with ´and´ when I was at skool!

6:45 PM

it was just a general observation about the forum, I hope the above alleviates your ignorance.

P.S dont call me your friend I do find that unnaceptable. I like to choose my friends and a whinging socialist would not be 1st on my list.

how sad that the ranting fascist has reared his moronic head above the parapet again. perhaps he'd be happier if he wandered off to his hospital bed for a lie down

I actually have quite a bit of sympathy for her/him.

S/he´s brave enough to post her/his thoughts, and surely must expect some people to respond.

Does s/he expect everybody to agree with her/him? If so, then s/he´s phenomenally naive, or incredibly arrogant.

When I pondered on a few of her/his points s/he assumes that I´m a Champagne Socialist, whereas in fact, I´m neither a socialist nor do I drink Champagne. But that´s her/his mind-set - s/he can´t see beyond a very narrow band of thought - what I call, in jest, a Daily Mail reader.

It seems that the only way that s/he can have a debate is by hurling personal abuse at any one stupid enough not to agree with her/him.

Sadly, I know a lot of people like that, and once you get passed the ignorant surface there´s often a nice person underneath.

Or there again, perhaps s/he is just a wind up merchant who get´s their kicks from thinking that they offend us.

If that´s so, then, wrong again pal!

perhaps the ranting facist at least stimulates some debate, something this forum sadly lacks, perhaps thats down to quotes like this

Sorry to hear someone has banned you from reading the Daily Wail and Mirror. How very illiberal of them. You should not have to put up with this kind of thing. Its a free country. Pluck up your courage and buy a Mirror!

As for the interesting post on freedoms.

It´s a report written by an American firm who exist:

¨.... to protect individuals and organizations against attacks on privacy by agents of industrial and competitive espionage, organized crime, oppressive governments and even hired hackers¨.

so, no agenda there then!

The term "champagne socialist" suggests that there is something wrong with anyone who earns a decent income holding left wing views. Does the corollary apply? Should we be mocking "half of bitter tories"? If you support a party run for and on behalf of millionaires without being one surely you are sufferig from a large dose of self deception at the very least.

Of course it is possible they have confused socialism with the enthusiasm of the early christian church for giving ones property to the poor? I know that most socialists are extremely saintly and this is very flattering but there is a certain amount of difference between the two ideologies. Having rendered unto Caesar that which is Caesar's socialists think its Caesar's job to spend the lolly on things like the NHS and schools and to ask the slave traders for a good bit more as well.
