Hospital

I hear the hospital is going to be closed at night- presumably the person who told me this was referring to the minor a&e department. Anyone know about this?

"Anyone know about this?" How about asking the hospital? The answer is that the receptionist knows nothing about it.

No, there is no point in asking the local staff who are not involved in the Trust's decision making process. The story that reached me is that the Trust management have made the decision and will present it as a fait accompli without consulting the local community or their staff.

May I ask what is the purpose of posting this new topic?
Either the story, or should we say, rumour is correct, in which case nothing can be done about it until the decision is announced.
Or the rumour is incorrect, in which case you are responsible for possibly unsettling people and giving further life to a rumour

is that not the whole point of this site to discuss, things I knew nothing of this but have asked around because it does concern me, therefore I'm gratefull for this site, if the rumour is correct (THUS BECOMING FACT) we perhaps can do something about it, if its incorrect, it aleast gives us a topic to discuss and and eye open for the future.

The point of making this posting is that the strategy of the health trust is not to put the matter up for consultation but rather to make it a fait accompli and simply announce the decision. If the people of Swanage do not wish to loose this service it is therefore sensible to prepare to dispute the matter before a decision is made. Like all official bodies health trusts get very indignant if they are called upon to change their collective mind - rather like an emperoer of imperial China not wanting to loose face.
