If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment here — just click first on Comments below, then type in post a comment (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized. How come cars were parked all along Shore Road over the weekend even tho the signs say no parking after 15 May and why weren't them cars ticketed by the traffic warden?? I mean you either have laws or you don't come on STC!!!

Nothing to do with STC it's DCC that's the highway authority and are responsible for making and enforcing traffic orders on the highway. There are a lot of blue badge holders living in and visiting Swanage. I wonder if that might be the answer.

TOLL
An item on BBC Breakfast highlighted the high cost of Tolls on the Humber Bridge, which has gone up from £2.70 to £3. The Humber bridge is over a mile long, (6,300 feet), and the distance to ‘go around’ some 50 miles plus. Sandbanks Chain Ferry on the other hand is £3.50 for a 1,060 feet with a go around of circa 35 miles and the ferry itself is some 200 feet so only has to travel 800 feet. Seems like a rip off to me or is the toll fee based on Sandbanks earnings not Pubeck's ?

Doing our green bit.

Just a thought , my girlfriend and I had to drive all the way over to Sandford to fill up with fuel. Now she said would it not be a great idea to put a card fuel machine at our local garages , so you could pay by card and not have to travel so far to buy fuel. Plus when tourists come down they would not run out of fuel driving all over the place. Just a thought!

still nothing on here about the new DCC policy on school transport....too coalitiony for the postman to stomach perhaps?

I did reply to your post, asking for you to provide some context behind your comment...

Context....DCC will no longer guarantee a place on the free school bus to Purbeck School, in direct contravention of the undertaking they gave when the abolished our 2 secondary schools in 1974. The six formers will now have to find £400 each to get to this poorly performing instution. swanage families are being effectively taxed for having children! In addition all children (and from next year that means 11yr olds too) will have to produce a pass or be refused travel. fine for most kids most of the time but we all know how chaotic some kids and families can be. and we all forget to put stuff in our bags...how mny kids will be roaming swanage every morning when that rule is enforced...but if you live in Whareham where you don't have to pay £400 for the privilide you can just stroll in to scholl as usual. DCC just doesn't give a **** about Swanage kids or any kids come to that. Swanage can become a retirement and second home haven for all they care.

Sign of the times I guess, a 'rag and bone man' doing the rounds in north Swanage recently.
