What is of interest, is to find out how many visitors there are to this site? Is it a valid means of communication with the local population? Or is it confined to just a few who are interested in computers?

Who knows what value this site has - or may have? I think no one could dispute it's 'a valid means of communication' - any medium is valid, though of course some may be more accessible than others. (Though good that free access is available at the library). It doesn't replace other media, only add to them.
Perhaps we have depended too long on having to wait a couple of weeks to see if a newspaper chooses to publish what we want to say. And surely you don't need to be 'interested in computers' to use the internet? Like it or not, this is increasingly an almost essential part of our lives. Let's use it as a tool to improve communication, to bring about change, to help move things forward.
I tried to get a hit-counter set up but it all went wrong. Will try again some time. Would be interesting to know how many people are viewing, not that there's any need to prove anything. No one has to use this space: if it 's of interest to only one or two, that's fine; if more, great.
Any tips or suggestions for improvements always gratefully received.
I think this is a fine idea, I hope that it will be supported and become a conduit for discussion between the local peoples views.
More power to your elbow moderator! I hope it becomes a great success, and a centre of local interest.
Dancing Ledge.
Hello from Portugal...nice blog
"is it confined to just a few who are interested in computers?"
Only if newspapers are only read by those with a consuming interest in printing presses and TV and radio restricted to electronics buffs.
As for letters - strictly the province of graphologists I presume.
The only problem with swanageview is telling people it is here. Unlike the local papers it does not have advertising revenue to blast it through letterboxes. Swanage Town Council is committed to listening to the public and has taken the lead in many respects. Perhaps swanageview could get a mention in the next newsletter they issue.
Hi from TUMBI UMBI,
Thanks to your efforts I know more about grass roots issues in Purbeck than here in Wyongshire in New South Wales.
Take a look at
http://www.statcounter.com/
this gives all the site statistics you could want and you can let others view them if you wish.
Keep up the good work
Tommy
