New planning fees

From today's Echo:http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/purbeck/

Planning fees are going through roof
RESIDENTS thinking about extending their homes have just days to get planning applications in - or face new fees of at least £950, and maybe thousands.

I think this is connected.

B'mouth is doing its damndest to make itself an important holiday resort.

Poole is doing its damndest to make itself an important port.

To reach their targets people have to drive thro' Dorset.

Dorset have to maintain the roads etc,

Shouldn't planning reflect it's effect?

I wonder how legal this imposition is. When it was announced some time ago they said there was no reason for the money to be spent locally, or on road improvements, money raised in Swanage could go on propagandising for cycle use in Bovington for example.

By the same logic which lies behidnd this measure more homes will lead to more demand for police, health education etc. How long before it is extended to paying for these as well and becomes a general tax on building.

The most remarkable thing is that government policy os to try to increase the munber of homes built which is a fraction of what it used to be, and here is PDC doing its best to put a spoke in the works. Letters to our MP Jim Knight please.

Chapman Partnership just managed to get a new set of plans in for the Pierhead site in time. There are no pretty pictures yet, but you can get the gist of the scaled down building at:

Depends on which officer you get though, most are good one or two are not so. A bit of advice email them and ask for a response even a read receipt, then at least you have some evidence.

And then complain

you need evidence because they lie when you say you called or contacted them I always log my calls and both mobile and home phones have itemised billing, hence thats why i email them.

what did you do with this evidence?

Can anyone tell me if it was legal for pdc to implement this while there was a public holiday and give people no chance to submit properly
