There's more Live Music on the seafront this week. The main carnival stage is still up with all the big speakers, and there are different bands on each evening.
I had a great time last night (Monday) with the Martin Johnson Band, featuring saxophone, guitar, bass, drums, Steve who runs the blues festivals on piano, and Martin himself of course singing.
It's well worth a stroll down there from about 8pm onwards. Mike Dimarco has the details of who's playing on a board in front of the sound hut in between the amusement arcade and the Fishermans Catch.

Is British Rock 'n' Roll coming back?
Martin's at it with his band again on Friday 10 August in the Purbeck, Swanage High Street - 9.30pm.

Well I for one think that the music on the seafront was fantastic and a tremendous success.
Mike Dimarco and all the bands that took part should be congratulated for their tremendous efforts and for giving us all such joy and fun.
I agree, music is good, but if you live close to, like me, it is a pain in the arse. Most of the music in 2nd week (and where did THAT come from that we residents didn't know about until it was happening?) finished late, in the case of the last night of 2nd week it was supposed to finish at 11.15pm and it finally ended at 11.45pm!. Not good if you are getting up for work the next day and you ALSO have to put up with odd drunks making their noisy way home (and its not ALL grockles). We prepare for carnival week and mostly enjoy all of it, but there is no consideration for people living locally when open air events are planned. Who gave the ok for 2nd week?. Town Council will no doubt bury theit heads in the sand as usual and leave us to it. I wonder if I refused to pay council tax and cited why!. Think on you music planners!

jeffcirca55 has a point. Now if the Mowlem could be used to put on music, there would be no need to put it on the seafront to annoy him.
While we're at it, you can hear the Punch & Judy show by the pier.

I have spoken to many residents of St Aldhelms Court in De Moulhem Road, and they assure me that nobody who lives there is against the music.
In fact, they've told me they welcome it!

Following the negative comments here about loud noise, Martin Johnson has fled back to France clutching a Moonlight Bistro bacon and egg baguette and crying "Let them eat Jim Etherington!"
Do not despair, mes braves, he promises to return for the Open Mic sessions at the Blues & Roots Festival in October.
But will he have a Matchbox Hole in his Knee?
