Core Strategy consultation Weds 21st 4-8pm

Let's build houses!
Sorry about the short notice.
Do you all know about the consultation exercise by Purbeck District Council taking place at The Mowlem * on the Purbeck Core Strategy (mainly where the options are for building new housing in Purbeck in general and Swanage in particular) on Wednesday the 21st of October - 4-8pm?

Transport issues as well.

Thanks very much for that, as the info was sent to me by a DCC employee, I'll break every bone in her body when I see her, or mebbie not!

I didn't.

It's still up to us to put forward our ideas for potential building sites.

So use that form that came thru' the post.

problem is..most of Swanage haven't received it. Is it right that the final date has been postponed.

Do we need any unaffordable housing?

Do we need affordable housing

Do we need another large supermarket either in Swanage or Wareham.

What sort of supermarket.

Do we think this could impact on small local shops Purbeck Producers, farmers markets.

If more houses, why are schools being merged, closed and all children over 11 transported to Wareham.

Employment: New Business Park: what is the criterion for being able to purchace a unit.

If these units are for starter businesses, we will need affordable housing.

Affordable housing = more children

More children = more school places

Reduce congestion on the A351=local schools for local children

Reduce Carbon Footprint = keep all amenities in the town.

Transport = get the train to Wareham.

Train to Wareham = funded by the sale of the Bay View Caravan Park

Good idea, but it is not up to STC to fund this, and it cannot use this windfall for this. Try higher ups such as PDC and Dorset County Council (I believe the latter has committed some funding to this already).

Yes - DCC has bought several engines for this purpose.

As the new housing is now being discussed on the supermarket thread, let's talk transport here.

DCC are also after our views on transport issues.

The usual suspects of train re-connecting, more Park and Ride, widening the B3075 are on the cards.

I wondered about pushing the use of Scooters and M'cycles, and drew a blank. It's not something that is usually considered when green issues come along. WHY? wonders I.

Car sharing has always been very patchy, Public Transport remains too slow - but not too expensive, £20 a week for any W&D bus at anytime.

just a'wondering.

What is this 'windfall' going to be used for. How much is it?

Has STC contributed funds to the railway? It would be amazing to see this finished. PDC and STC (each end of the line)!

Just thinking the railway. The train is a great thing but Coal and diesal are unsustainable fuels, and produce emissions. What plans does Swanage Railway have to reduce its Carbon Footprint?

Seriously, this is a minefield.

I hear they are going to be running nuclear powered trains from 2011 to help reduce emissions, especially on wash days.

Are we going to hear what the Swanage Town Councils response is to the Core Strategy.

Objective 2 Housing

Objective 4 Retail-supermarkets

obective 6 Sustainable design and renewable energy.

Objective 8 Employment
