Dare I ask about Camper Vans?

What's wrong with people in camper vans? It seems to me this just isn't properly managed in order to attract such types to a suitably facilitated site, perhaps close to the beach with a view of the bay. Swanage has hardly any hotels or guest houses left, and if folks want to come for a few days and move on then in honesty, beggars can't be choosers. What is gained by chasing them away? They wont suddenly check into The Grand instead.

As a resident I dont see any problem with camper vans and I plan to buy one myself in the near future.

Perhaps allowing them to park overnight in the peveril car park would be worth looking into, the would have views over the bay and be far enought away from the nimby's to keep them happy?

Dose anyone know if it is legal to "ban" a type of vehicle from a town?

If they pay road tax and insurance shouldnt be be allowed to park in the same places as smaller cars?

I know a few people who have the smaller size camper vans as their only vehicle and if they cant park near the town centre they will have to spend their money elsewhere !
