SANDBANKS Ferry will not be back in service on Monday as planned but, weather and sea conditions permitting, should be running again by the end of next week.

Mind you, I remember 2000, when it was off for 6 weeks.
Let's pray for good weather and the return of the stupendously profitable ferry.
Couple of years ago it made about a million quid - I've been told that that's about normal.

Fantastic bridge.
Perched across a beautiful valley - people go just to see it.
If you wander around Swanage a ce moment la isn't it quiet - something to do with the ferry being off, or just everyone saving for Xmas?
I cant understand why you lot witter and moan about the ferry and the prices it saves time and money using the ferry so when its of it cost more to get to b/mth poole any way it wont be back till next monday.

Monday - weather permitting.
Foundations in sand, at least 150ft apex for ship passage, span looks to me about 1 mile including access ramps. Don't mind knocking down all of Sandbanks, but do mind messing up Shell Bay even more than already is.
I'm no expert, but wasn't the Holes Bay road built on very dodgy foundations?
It would still have to be closed for maintenence, but a raising bridge?
Technically, there was no way the Millau bridge could be done.

The Ferry is stuck in So,ton.
No chance of even leaving there until 2-12.
And then it's still dependant on the weather.
its allways seems to me that novemeber weather is usually damper ie mist and fog than jan weather, 5 bloody weeks could have built a new one by now, still im sure the poor bugg£rs who have to travell to b'mth via bus will be soooo very pleased

It was off for 6 weeks and rained for the whole time - I might be exaggerating a bit - but a damn sight more than this year.

rumour has it the ferry wont be back on till END next week could this be a record?
Why do they always service the Ferry in the winter when they know the weather is likely to be against them. Surely it makes sense to take it out for service in July/August when the weather is probably going to be okay. Also the Ferry is so full of holiday makers you can't use the bloody thing.

A tunnel would be nice, but impossible because of the 180 odd oil pipes radiating up to 10 miles from BP at Furzey and opposite Goat Horn.
is not january a slightly dryer month perhaps we could find out and advise the ferry co. I think the Nov service has proved that its not the best time what have the got to loose by trying Jan.
