If you're interested in the last meeting of the Swanage Residents' Association, the draft minutes may be seen at:

(All a bit crude and clunky, and will welcome help and advice from anyone prepared to offer it!)

Thank you for posting up the link to the minutes, I was unable to attend the meeting. Re: Pavement obstruction. Cannot the association be a little more positive here? The Lower High Street between Jenkins and the Pier should be pedestrianised and businesses allowed to lease their pavement for tables and chairs. These are law abiding residents you are talking about and we enjoy sitting outside drinking coffee or whatever. Councillor Bright's comment made him seem like a real "jobs worth". It's about time Mrs. Chips realised which side her bread is buttered.

I think we all like the cafe / pavement culture -- which works where the pavements are big enough and owned by the business. Otherwise, surely the public have the right to walk (or wheelchair) safely along public pavements without obstruction and risk of injury?

I get the feeling that in this country a blind eye is often turned to law breaking if an alternative is provided.
Pedestrianise the place for gosh sakes.
Most people hate driving around town, so don't give them, sorry, us, the option

Well Mr.Postman why not make a start with the Councils own concessionaires who fill the promenade with ice cream "A" boards, giant "99"'s and the like. Does the White House tourist information have planning permission for all the advertising signs on it's exterior? Come to think of it why aren't the White House and Fishermans Catch listed?

I believe that all of the businesses referred to do have planning permission for their signs/advertising boards. But certainly these would be included in any review.I too wonder if those buildings are listed.Perhaps you could check with PDC?
