Perhaps someone could work up a routine about a comedy festival that uses every venue in town apart from the local theatre which appears to prefer to remain dark rather than offer terms acceptable to would be users.

I would simply like to wish this new Festival well. I shall support it, as I hope many others will.

Sounds great, but I am sure the new owners of the 'muni' would prefer it referred to as Swanage Bay View HOLIDAY (not CARAVAN) Park. After all, they gave STC 7.5 million for the privilege!!

You see, the company behinds the park aspires to a 'Kate Moss' lifestyle among its happy band of customers.....so their blurb states.

(What??? : they aspire to a thin, anorexic drug taking sort of lifetyle??? Hardly!! Most of the owners there appear to be old, retired, rather boring, somewhat grumpy, and obese.........

SBV already has Ron Manager.

Mmm? Ooh, got it all, you know? Speed, acceleration, sweet left foot, all the tricks - the dummy, the drop of the shoulder, the shimmy, nutmeg, jiggery-pokery, hocus pocus, abracadabra, I wanna reach out and grab ya. Steve Miller Band? Spin Doctors? Ooh, very similar. It's a far cry from small boys in the Park, jumpers for goalposts. Isn't it? Mmmmm. Marvellous.'

Fantastic news! About time too! Have seen the 'Let's get this town laughing' posters and wondered what it was all about.

Regarding the 12.35AM posting, for the avoidance of doubt, BBC football pundit Ron Manager will not be at SBV. Add satirical to the end of the inaccurate 11.33PM post.

This would be a great opportunity for the Mowlem to come alive. Fill the theatre and bar afterwards - everyone would win - whats happening?

The Mowlem apparently does not make itself available or competitive for events such as this. Would like to see their response to this charge.

So would I although it is more of an observation than a charge. They have been unable or uninterested in offering acceptable terms to the film, jazz, folk, blues, blues and roots and string festivals. With a loss of £20,000 a year to sort out you would think they would be chasing every possible user and place themselves at the centre of culture and entertainment in Swanage rather than being an empty ox at the end of the seafront.

In the meantime lets hope the comedy festival is a huge success and becomes a regular part of the fixture list. We should all support it.

Looking at the comments regarding the Mowlem, I can only presume that the reason it isn't being used would be obvious to anyone who has "enjoyed" a night down there.

Oop! Box not ox. A freudian slip after the matter of kowtowing the other day.
