Swanage Tourist Information accolade

Swanage Tourist Information is a finalist in the Tourist Information Service of the Year Awards for the South West region 2010/11.

Swanage is currently the second highest-ranking Tourist Information Centre in Visit Britain's The Mystery Shopper Programme.  Tourists Information Centres receive unannounced visits, phone calls and emails from a mystery shopper from Visit Britain, asking for various tourism information, and are then assessed on the quality of the service and information received. Swanage Tourist Information Centre only just missed the top rank to Gloucester by 0.3%.

The winners of the Tourist Information Service of the Year Awards will be announced on November 15th 2010 in Torquay.

Wow, to have beaten many larger towns is really something. Great work for Swanage tourism.

Very able and comprehensive TIC, but staff are sometimes a bit snappy ... the lady knows who she is! Other staff, very good, may be why 2nd place?

I'm not surprised that someone's snappy if she has to deal with cowardly comments like yours - you know who you are!

Somebody's 'snappy' is another body's 'efficient'. On somebusy days the STC deals with many hundreds of enquiries. If everyone expects a smile and a 'how's your uncle', then no one could be served.

How much did you pay for their service? Nothing. I rest my case.
Perhaps you got what you asked for.

Excellent. Maybe this will help to keep them located on the seafront.

I wonder if the team will receive a thank you bonus, for all that hard work, they probably should.

Maybe locals don't often have the need to go in there with a query to get the experience for themselves? Complacency I call it, speak as one finds.
