Swanage roads

Can someone explain why the roads to the north of Swanage are being dug up? Is it new gas lines, or what? It is taking a long time.

Looks like street light replacement.

Really, when they're digging up the road!

I think you maybe a bit confused with the work going on all over Purbeck to 'improve' street lighting.

The work in Noo Swanage is not connected, although I don't know what it is.

Perhaps the blogger who posted the question could ask the guys doing the work and post the reason on here then we would all know.

I did; they said they could not repond to that question. Their van sign did not undertake the sort of work they do (beyond construction). It wasn't Wessex Water or Southern Electric or DCC. All Official Secrets secrecy stuff - so it seems! Maybe it is to do with high speed fibre coming our way - or Virgin cable??

The conduit being laid down looked more connected with an electrical than gaseous or liquid purpose. Perhaps a FOI request to GCHQ is in order!!?? Or Richard Branson??

Walk past, smell the gas, read the yellow pipes with 'gas' printed on them...........must be fibre optic network [not].

It's a subtle bit of subterfuge from the spooks up in Cheltenham. Don't me fooled by yer eyes!!!

Apparantly it is under street heating in order to save on grit during icy weather
