Parking

What is the point of having double yellow lines in Swanage when the disabled badge brigade just park anywhere?
I just watched a family of seven stride off from their camper van parked on High Street. Who gives these badges out?
There soon wont be any space for the genuinely disabled to use.

If you think that a Blue Badge is being misused you should:

•get as many details as possible from the badge on display
•report the matter to your local council, who will investigate and take action

Its not always the blue badge holders, a lot of drivers in Swanage have a blatant disregard for double yellow lines in Swanage. Just look at cars parked opposite the URC church, outside the Snack Bar, Institute Road, on the High Street....
Also not all blue badge holders have disabilities that are immediately obvious so be careful how you judge.

Slighty off topic, but I counted at 9.00 p.m. tonight 17 campers parked along Shore Road, clearly set up to spend the night.

I thought overnight camping is not allowed there??

The thoughgt of all those kids playing on the beach, the toilets, best ice cream and amusements on the other side of the road, and between them huge camper vans and 30 mile an hour two way traffic makes my blood boil.

Counted 24 campers parked overnight last night. And these are not kids trying to save a few bob, there are 6 wheeled £60k + monsters with their Satellite dishes.

I am normally quite laid back about things but this is getting out of hand.

I quite agree with the latter comments regarding camper vans. These vehicles should not be freeloading but paying their way at our local business sites. The hazards to pedestrians is considerable as niether walkers or drivers can see past the vehicles and then there is the very detrimental visual effect on our finest asset.
Come on Town Hall get enforcing.

And then they set up tables and chairs on the pavement and eat their evening meals..............awful state of affairs.

These camper vans do strike me as being quite wrong. A real blight and an absolute struggle to see past when you are trying to cross from one side of the road with young children and a pushchair. And it's not just Shore Road. I see one has been spending the last few nights on Durlston Rd near Bon Accord Rd. But they aren't breaking any parking regulations so what can the traffic people do?

Well, Martin.....wake up the Council about the camper vans then!!!

Hitler, apparently, was a great dancer but more keen on railway carriages than camper vans.

So if enforecement took place, the STC could be gaining £60 per day each for using the Shore Road campsite!

then the happy campers would realise that its cheaper to use a campsite after all...
