Luvverly. Someone in the Planning department pushing this idea really has something against Swanage.

Im not worried all the "travelers" are going to live with Dave furmage :)

David Furmage said...

Like they are going to see the site , when it's behind the middle school with 2 caravans on the land. Jesus that 's going to be so many of them living there:)

Plus my garden is probably to small to fit a caravan in anyway;) .so they can live with me. Thou I might join them if I don't get housed soon.

Up to everyone else to look after you, is it?

and thats what is wrong with this country get everything give nothing!

No one should be homeless - fine, let's not argue with that. But what makes a "traveller"? Can't be just someone who buys a caravan or where would the Caravan Club be!! How do you get to be a "traveller"? Can anyone declare themselves this or do you have to be some special theiving, violent, abusive, waste of space nuisance personage to fit into this category and thereby qualify for free land, free rent, free taxable services and free lots of other things - whilst conducting the business of abducting the mentally defective, imprisoning them and beating them into working for you -or stealing lead, manhole covers or anything that isn't araldited down? Seems so. Why not give "travellers" the same rights as everyone else - and no more? This directive of course comes from the gone-loopy EU once again - no blame to attach to UK government or local councillors - unless perhaps they should stop "only following orders".

David Furmage said...

I pay taxes and pay my fairshare towards things. So stick to your selfish ways . Like I got my house and no one else is allowed anything attitude , and I don't like you cause your a traveller. Shame on you who ever your are , shame on you :(

Anonymous said...

Dave please get real travelers are trouble get over it, noone on here is saying the homeless should not be looked after, but they (alledged travellers) bring it upon themselves and I feel, no I know there is a ground swell of opinion that is fed up with this.

David Furmage said...

Some people that are housed in swanage are trouble too , but don't see a barrage of abuse to get rid of them:) ok simple question homes built on herston fields or 2 caravans hidden behind the middle school?

Anonymous said...

How about neither?

I will say it again: since Wareham gets things before Swanage, save the travelers the hassle of living in Swanage and site them up at Wareham.

Anonymous said...

All travellers are trouble.

Like all French people wear garlic round their necks.

All Mexicans are lazy.

All Americans are fat.

Any other stereotypes?

Also, if POST MASTER is reading, what happened to the wind turbine topic with the image from Scotland

"simple question homes built on herston fields or 2 caravans hidden behind the middle school?"

My answer: Houses for locals please. Particualrly young families - yes ones who have at least one breadwinner.

100% agree but you know by the time the quotas of people from poole, ethnic minorities, the feckless chavs, the ones with 8 kids 5 different fathers etc are all allocated yours will be one 1 bedroom flat below the drug dealer.

Bit harsh to lay the blame on Ryan Giggs and Juan Mata.

David Furmage said...

Haha anyone who plays for Man Utd should be blamed ;) and yep houses for locals would be nice , be interested to see how many empty houses could be up for grabs now we can ask the council about this. Good programme about this last week on Channel 4;)

Anonymous said...

The owners of Herston fields wanted to build houses on it.

The locals whinged and moaned.

Now they want to put travellers there.

Maybe its a ploy to get houses there, i.e. if its a toss-up between travellers and houses, I'd pick houses.

Also

Hmm..the first thing tourists coming into Swanage will see will be a travelers'site

What if they come over the ferry?

Anonymous said...

Don't worry, 7.00pm, if visitors come over on the ferry they will still catch a glimpse of a travellers site on the corner of Ulwell Road and Washpond Lane.

Anonymous said...

Don't worry, 7.00pm, if visitors come over on the ferry they will still catch a glimpse of a travellers site on the corner of Ulwell Road and Washpond Lane.

But its only one site out of the four mentioned if any at all so visitors coming from one direction will not see them.

David Furmage said...

The washpond lane site is only allowed 2 caravans , it's not herston fields anyway and washpond lane is in a dip behind loads of bushes and trees. So visitors would have to drive through the lanes to see this. Thing that makes me laugh about this whole situation is that it's coalition government who is putting forward these plans aswell mainly made up of conservatives. Haha , sorry having a little chuckle to myself. So at end of day they are lining their pockets again:(

Also Wareham has already got a site and had one for many years and it's council run I hear with all people on site paying their ways. Kind of like what we all do , pay our ways. Don't think Wareham has a bad reputation cos travellers live there either. And all this talk about " oh my house will drop in value And so will houses in Swanage sob sob sob " well this might be a selfish thought on my
behalf " Good " I say least that way if no houses get built by our local councils I might be able to afford a house.

Anonymous said...

David you seem a very bitter person? Just because someone else has something they have worked hard for over many years you seem jealous. I have worked hard put some money away into a small pension (which is a lot smaller thank you the left wingers)and you want me to lose out ? I did not have very many children had what I could afford. went without holidays, sky tv and comps. Now you want me and mine to pay to house you? how many children do you have or are responsible for? and what ever you say we, yes thats the taxpayer end up footing the bill for the travellers.

David Furmage said...

Not bitter at all. Just fed up with certain locals losing out cos the rich want to get richer and all the rest can get left behind to deal with the rest of the crap. It's about time things changed and our whole attitude changed. Otherwise we will always end up clashing against each other. I put towards a pension too. I am responsible for 4 children and pay for anything they need. Thou when I cant live my new born cos the council tell me they are no houses big enough , then we get this put on our doorstep makes me wonder how you become a traveller in the first place and if they paided their way ie taxes then what's the big deal really? Ok the sites that's on the cards are not ideal , so what if they came back with new sites. Then what? For me it either houses for locals or sites for travellers. We can't just live in greed all the time surely? It's not just about this , stop and look at the whole picture here for a moment.

Dear 2.09

You have kids therefore you paid an awful lot less tax than I do. I'm happy to do that cuz other peoples kids get a free education, other peoples kids get free health care - GREAT! - a sign of civilisation in this increasingly barren world.

Welcoming and housing Travellers isn't a problem - providing decent housing for people is.

Don't hold your breath David, all politicians spin in the way we want but how many actually delver?

Ok I have 2 boys who live me at the moment , and my girlfriend has our new born with her and her 4 children , one who is disabled so much that she has to becartied up the stairs as this is a struggle for her. They live in a 3 bedroom which is way to small for her. So this means we can't move in. So our family lives apart:( oh and our newborn is back and forwards to hospital aswell which means I am not there too help as I don't live with them.

There is that an honest answer for whoever you are?

well postman lots of things upset me. the mention of god for example that is offensive to many. the word P**** is used all over the country, next you will ban taffy jock and paddy.

It seems mr furmage can pretty well have the run of this forum, have you ever had this misfortune to be abused (verbally) when he looses his temper many have including people from the council :)

But it is your forum your rules so I will except that. All tho it does stink of hypocrsy..... nick clegg anyone :)

David Furmage said...

Haha can't ever recall losing my temper and being abusive to our local councillors , many on our council are friends of mine and friends of my family ;) and I for would not behave in this manner when it comes to those on our council , they have a harder enough job as it is:) plus I think they have got better things to do then take abuse of an old man :)

As for run of this forum , Mr Postman, any chance of putting photo's of my stamp collection I am sure the lovely , kind and caring people on here would be so interested in it? :)

Getting back to the subject............

I was unable to attend the meeting on Sunday, and have been hoping to see some comments on here reference what was said, and any proposed actions.

Can anyone enlighten me, please?

David Furmage said...

The save herston group is to become friends of herston fields. Gary Suttle and Bill Trite both gave speeches. Various folk talked about the plans on the travellers sites. Overall an interesting meeting.

Anonymous said...

Everywhere gradually seems to be having more traveler sites. Local news today covered a site at Brighton that all visitors will see as they come and go. Guess we have to take our share - its a nice place to live after all. This shouldn't have to be a debate between travelers and housing local people with large families. Surely we should strive to provide everyone with housing. Those who have obtained their own homes in easier times (but not that easy...) should show sympathy for those who are less fortunate. Herston fields for houses and travelers wouldn't be a bad thing for the town.

Those who have obtained their own homes in easier times (but not that easy...) should show sympathy for those who are less fortunate.

And those that have worked bloody hard should be shown respect and not made to feel like low life just because we have got homes. Some on here begrudge hard working people anything. And if you want the travelers you have them next to you!

David Furmage said...

" To get respect you have to earn it first "

And 10:28am nice post;)

Anonymous said...

To get respect you have to earn it first "

you dont know me or probably most of the posters on herehow dare you sugest I have to earn your respect who the hell do you think you are! hard work saving going without things thats what got me and many others our homes and savings. Yhis is typical of you Furmage, you want a house earn one! work full time dont spend endless money on bikes and kites or camper vans. and dont breed so much!!!!!!

David Furmage said...

Well glad you got that off your chest:)

Now let's discuss this a bit more. One , I do work hard if you would like to know , like many of us in Swanage know that the wages we get would no way even pay for a deposit on a house let alone buy one. I use to work all the hours under the sun a couple of years ago , though this took an adverse effect on my social life ie my boys never got to see me. Then my wages would go on babysitters , so i released then it was time to make a decision. I got offered a pastry chef position with less hours. So I took it and I have never looked back. 2. The reason why I cycle is I don't drive , reasons being is I have always ridden around on a bike since I was about 10. Plus what's the point of having a car when 85% of travel in swanage is under 5 miles. Parkings a nightmare , rising fuel costs , your VED , insurance , the list goes on. Though the main reason is it keeps me fit plain and simple. 3. Now for the kites , it's my hobby and also as I teach it , it's my other job. So I have 2 jobs you see. 4. I had 3 boys , and a few years ago i had the snip. So for the comment of breeding , bit below the belt though that's what I kind of expect to hear from someone, whoever you are , like you :(. I met my current girlfriend 2 years ago in which she has kids of her own. So I did not breed them as you would say. Anyway a miracle happen and my girlfriend became pregnant , so my snip reverse it's self. Yep friends call me Super Spermage,:). And now I have a beautiful daughter and it's the first girl in our family of 11 boys. So it's was not planned to breed more like you say. And now last but not least. 5. The campervan , it's my girlfriends and we bought it because we would not of had enough seats to go out with everyone since the arrival of our daughter. Also my girlfriends youngest daughter is disabled so she is in and out of hospital alot so the van is needed to get back and forth.

So that's my excuse :) and I would probably respect you a bit more if I knew who I was talking too. But hey no worries. I stand by my opinions and that's all it is an opinion , you don't have to agree. Though please be a bit more considerate when talking about things which you know nothing about. Anyway off out now , though lock up your wives cos friends say I could touch someone and make them have a baby. And we would not want anymore BREEDING done now , would we?

Anonymous said...

You still dont get it do you. You rant and rave at times then say comments like respect needs to be earnt.... by whom? you have no right to criticise me or mine about owning a home. yet you still go on about it. Why should I pay or provide you with a house (min 4 beds by the sound of it) I have helped and continue to do so, my off spring ask your parents for help, both work I assume? what about private renting? I know dozens of families who do that.

You preach about cost of running a car then say your new partner has a camper van, surely the money for that could have paid a deposit on a home or rented place?

You seem to want to have an opinion on every subject you bilittle those who have something you dont. I dont poke my nose into your personal business so leave mine alone.

David Furmage said...

We have done private renting , great until 6 months comes then you have to find somewhere else to live .My girlfriend needs the van to get a back from hospital which has been constant for the last 4 months. Without it , things would be hard for her as Swanage hospital does not deal with her daughters problem. And a £1000 don't far these days when it comes to renting Or privately renting, which we don't want to do cos we would be stupid to give up our council tenancy. And have been advised that we would be stupid to do so. So I think I do get it thank you. Though I am willing to pay taxes to help those more indeed of the basic things in life, ie like housing. So if travellers want to live here , then let them. Who knows we might learn something from them. But you won't if you don't respect their way of life and how they live. Thing is I have heard things like " oh we got our house and sod everyone else." , that to me is selfish and this I don't want them here cos my house price will drop. Well sell up now then and move out if you don't want your value of house going down. And anyway in this climate at the moment no one is buying and banks are not lending money to buy a house. Plus would not want to get in debt , borrowing money here and there. And why do you think I should ask my parents? They anit rich and dont have loads of money. And I think in life relying on parents all the time to bail out you does not make you a strong person. Plus some of our parents these days have got harder lives than ours , so would rather not. Also come to think of it why should I pay taxes to have your bins emptied , running water to your house , decent roads for I take it you drive , too drive on. But I don't think like that. It's about helping people who are in need and I am willing to help , just shame some people are not like that.

David Furmage said...

I have lived next to them and lost money, constant noise thefts dodgy cars etc I moved cost me a fortune but hey you dont give a toss do you. So plz dont lecture me on them!

why do you think I should ask my parents? They anit rich and dont have loads of money. And I think in life relying on parents all the time to bail out you does not make you a strong person. Plus some of our parents these days have got harder lives than ours So make everyone else pay I help my kids why should I help you. And you admit us oldies have it worse? Fixed income mate no tax credits here.

David Furmage said...

Have I personally asked for your help anywhere in this blog? Hmmmmm no I don't think I have. Though when since the age of 16 when you start paying taxes , you would think you would get back something , but all your doing is lining the pockets of the rich. Did anyone watch Kevins grand designs on ch 4 last night. Here's a man who used up his savings to build 26 houses and even has a house of his own. Though he set out to help others who were in need , now there's a prime example of what I have been trying to say all along. Someone who is not fuelled by greed and selfish needs, a man with good intentions to help others. Shame there's not more like him :(

Also please show me statistics that crime goes up when travellers move into a town in Dorset? Also could you refrain from using bad language when writing a post , it don't do you any favours :)

Anonymous said...

Someone who is not fuelled by greed and selfish needs, a man with good intentions to help others

Nothing wrong with helping others if they a) can't help themselves or b) are helping themselves and need a boost.

There are far too many who seem to think life owes them a living and rather than be productive just whinge and moan and expect and demand.

If you pay taxes you should be entitled to some help from the state, but not have everything handed to you.

As for the gypsies, why should the people of this town have them here if they don't contribute via taxes?

And why do travellers need a permanent site?

David Furmage said...

Thing is we are helping ourselves , we advertise for house exchanges. And not so long ago we did find one , thou the other person had arrears ( which she will always have ). So the council said sorry no can do. Even if they switched the arrears to our house and we moved in to her you think it would be simple. No ! . We even said keeping a family apart with 2 child benefits being claimed cost the council and the government money. We even got doctors , midwives , teachers letters to help us with the exchange and sent them to our council and Richard ( waste of space )Drax the people who should be there to serve and help us and maybe others who are worse off , and do they help you , do they hell as like. We hear of old people living in 4 + bedroom council house who want to downsize , thou can't cos they are in arrears say the council. Of course they are in arrears you muppets they can't afford the rent cos of the size of House. We hear one old lady lives in her living room cos she can't get up the stairs. But oh she is in arrears we can't move her and we are not a priority:( what a lot of tosh. So we are helping ourselves.

Anyway for your last 2 question about travellers , read the link below and really stop and think about what you are made to think about them. You might be surprised:) Question 2 and 5 might make you think about them in a different light:)

IF travelers get onto herston fields ,it is washpole lane that will end up a rubbish dump, with more and more canavans ,and will take the council 10 years sort them out move them somewere, as for houses they can,t sell what they got in swanage now,and why swanage any way were the work ,their must be better places as fields waterlog and damp all seem abit mad.
