New Subject

If you want to raise a new topic, post your comment here — just click first on Comments below, then type in post a comment (top right of the next window). Can you choose a title for your post, please? Sometimes it's hard to work out what a comment is about and what the subject is. A new heading will soon be set up, allowing others to see and add their own comments. It seems it's sometimes easier to click on 'Post anonymously' than to open an account in your name - you can always add your name to your message. We try to keep posts civilized. And any posts that become too provocative, insulting, threatening or otherwise unpleasant will be delete.

Grammar School site.

An outline planning application for a residential development of up to 52 properties (50/50 mix market and affordable housing) has now been submitted by Welfare Dwellings Residential Care Ltd for the former Grammar School site. The application also includes significant changes to the old school building. Namely demolition of the existing extensions, portable buildings and huts, combined with a new single storey, two storey extension and sports hall. The new Swanage Free School is due to open in September 2013. Full details of all this can be found on-line at:

So what do people make of this?

Jokes about Railway Enthusiasts in the Swanage Railway Project.

Should people be subjected to ridicule because of the hobby they choose? How should they react? Should they stop being railway enthusiasts, should they ignore the comments, or should they make jokes about themselves?

“SWANAGE & WAREHAM ADVERTISER”
[Thursday 16, 2012]
Head line; ‘New Plan for Turbine’ ~ at PUDDLETOWN, which is closer to Dorchester than either Swanage or Wareham. Furthermore, the ‘Postbag’ published letters only from residents of Bournemouth ! Has media discussion of the Off Shore Wind Farm or Swanage Traveller Sites been ‘D Noticed’ Political Correctness by the powers that be?

Macmillan Cancer Support at Swanage Area Senior Forum

It's a sobering thought that one in three of us will get cancer, and it is, possibly, the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you, or a loved one, are diagnosed with cancer, you'll want to be reassured that there's a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way.
Chrissie Wathan-Neal, from Dorset Macmillan Cancer Support will be the guest of Swanaage Area Senior Forum at our monthly meeting on Wednesday 22nd February, 7pm, at the Swanage Day Centre.
Around 4,400 people are diagnosed with cancer in Dorset every year, and Macmillan trys to reach out and improve the lives of those people by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support.
Come along to hear all about Macmillan, what they do, how they can help us and how we can help them.
Everyone welcome - whatever your age !
