Please?

Can we try to keep posts civilized? There seems to be an increasing tendency to insult people who may have different opinions to your own. Speaking for myself, it just makes me skip the post and move on — so the more agressive the post, perhaps the less chance there is of your point being heard.

insults come in many forms from name calling to vicious sarcasm, also styreo typing people is not nice either but agreed it must be more civilised, but I will not stop the somewhat barbed humour tho :)

Its practically impossible to avoid stereotypes when I read some of the postings on here. For example the one advocating sterilising chavs (or is it their parents). I immediately have a mental image of Colonel Blimp sitting in his club, brandy and soda in hand demanding hanging and flogging for the younger generation, or if the poster is grammaticaly challenged, Alf Garnett, clad in a vest, making much the same demands.

What do we look like to the outside world? I know Swanage is generally regarded as being in a time warp but its embarrasing when the views expressed by some of the inhabitants are as Edwardian as the buildings.
